In 1895, Benjamin Minney and his family built a farm on what would eventually become Vida. His homestead started as a place to eat lunch and change the horses for the stagecoaches, but as the community grew more buildings and businesses popped up. Before long the town had a general store, a stage stop, a covered bridge, and a large house that was used as a school, a resort, and even a dance hall. Out of all the buildings, only the large red barn still stands on the original homestead
