Back before there was a bridge in McKenzie Bridge, the locals called this place Strawberry Prairie. People could stroll the natural meadow and pick strawberries by the bucket. In 1885, George and Melvina Frissel built the first Log Cabin Inn. The rustic charm of the inn and restaurant as well as the natural beauty of the area attracted celebrities of all types. Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra, Herbert Hoover, and many more frequented the area. Unfortunately, the historic building was lost to a fire in 2006.
