When the First Peoples were forced from their native lands in the mid- 1850s, some of the Molalla People who lived along the McKenzie River were sent to find a future near the Deschutes River on the Warm Springs Reservation over a hundred miles away. They returned annually to the McKenzie River Valley where they would hunt, fish, and pick wild huckleberries. The families in this photo share the river’s bounty in Blue River.
