Phil’s Phine Phoods was a small family- owned business opened in 1944 owned by the Phillips family. The store began as a cafe but in the next twenty years they added groceries, clothing, hardware, and even hand-scooped ice cream. Everyone who worked there met both locals and visitors with a smile. “Yes, we have it” was more than just a slogan. Many people, including President Herbert Hoover, paid for their fishing licenses at Phil’s Phine Phoods. Unfortunately, a fire destroyed the family business in 1993.
